2-hour itinerary
The Flower and Fruit Route
In spring, let yourself be enchanted by the scent of the flowers, and during the growing and harvesting months, enjoy the low- and standard-tree orchards of cherry, apple and pear trees.
Only available if the terrain permits.

Alden Biesen, Hof Ter Poorten, Kasteeldomein Hardelingen, Kasteeldomein Schalkhoven, #Inconcreto, Holleweg and Jeugdkapel, standard and dwarf fruit orchards.

2-hour route
Via the Hoge Kempen National Park to the city centre.
Winding your way like a boomerang from the villages of Hesbaye to the southern tip of the Hoge Kempen National Park, through the Munster Forest. You then cycle safely and smoothly through the bustling heart of the city to return to the majestic Alden Biesen Commandery.

Flower and Fruit Route
(season: April and September/October)
In spring, marvel at the fragrant flowers, and during the growing and harvesting months, enjoy the orchards with their standard and dwarf cherry, apple and pear trees.
Only available if the terrain permits.

Journey time: 2 hours 45 minutes driving and 1 hour 15 minutes for a stop or break.

Alden Biesen, #inconcreto, Schalkhoven Castle Estate, Hardelingen Castle Estate, Vrijhern Hermitage, Hof ter Poorten, Apostelhuis, standard and dwarf fruit orchards.
Take a break along the way
Where? Alden Biesen picnic area, Wenkeshoeve – terrace, Picnic area (Steenbergstraat), Bar Bloei (during the blossom season), Hooilingen Bivakzone picnic area, Cultuurhuis Bilzen-Hoeselt – Ter Kommen, Brasserie ’t Lindje, De Boomgaerd, ’t Gasthuis.

Discovering Hesbaye
Cruise through rolling countryside and fertile fields from village to village, discovering picturesque spots and the historic charm of the castles along the way.
Approx. 40 km
Journey time: 2 hours 45 minutes driving, plus 1 hour 15 minutes for a stop or break.

Alden Biesen, Jeugdband, #inconcreto, Schalkhoven Castle, Hardingen Castle, Vrijhern Hermitage, Hof ter Poorten, 's Herenelderen Castle, St Stephen’s Church, Genoels-Elderen Wine Castle & high- and low-stem orchards.

4-hour route
Through the Hoge Kempen National Park to the town centre.
Winding your way like a boomerang from the villages of Hesbaye to the southern tip of the Hoge Kempen National Park, through the Munster Forest. Then cross the bustling city centre safely and smoothly to return to the majestic Alden Biesen Commandery.

Journey time: 2 hours plus 2 hours for a stop/break

Are you unable to complete your booking? Please contact the Tourist Information Centre by telephone (089 39 74 30) between 9.30 am and 5.30 pm or by email at toerisme@bilzenhoeselt.be. Please ensure you include any error messages or describe the problem as accurately as possible.
Important to know
The driver
The driver must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid Class B driving licence.
Every driver must show their driving licence when collecting the car. The driver’s driving licence will be photocopied by the receptionist.
It is not permitted to change drivers during the journey (insurance).
Passengers
Each vehicle can carry a maximum of 4 people (adults and children).
Children
It is not permitted to transport a baby.
It is not permitted to carry a child in a baby carrier.
It is not possible or permitted to fit a Maxi-Cosi or child seat onto the vehicle.
Children from 1.35m in height can be transported safely.
The green vehicle is a very suitable vehicle for travelling with people with reduced mobility. Wheelchairs cannot be taken on board the vehicle. Please contact us directly for further information.
A small dog may travel on the trolley, but at your own risk.
Your route
When using a green cart, you’ll be part of the general traffic. This means you’ll be driving on public roads, not on footpaths or (separate) cycle paths.
You can view and download the available routes in advance.
Possible options
Picnic
You can bring your own picnic or order a picnic featuring local produce when you book a green cart.
Guide
· A personal guide will provide commentary on the route and the sights.
· The guide is one of the three passengers on the cart. The cost: 70 euros for 2 hours. (+ 30 euros for an extra hour)
· A guide can be booked via toerisme@bilzenhoeselt.be at least 14 calendar days before the activity.
The weather
Make sure you wear suitable clothing on a chilly day or in wet weather.
Certain routes may be temporarily unavailable during or following a period of persistent rain.
