Once upon a time, the bleaching meadow was located where the washerwoman sits. The Beguines did their laundry in the Demer and then laid the clothes on the grass to let them 'bleach'. Here, today, an elegant 'washerwoman' still rinses the laundry.
Tips
1. Have a picnic on the bench next to the washerwoman. The dozens of ducks that have their nest nearby will happily keep you company.
2. Walk from North to South along the Demer with many city parks along the way:
