The story

La famiglia

Fabio (39), Laura (37), Matteo (10) and Elena (6). Together we are the Celli family. Our names reveal our Italian roots. So it's no surprise that our family is at the heart of everything we do. We share our lives and we share our passions. Not least our love of nature. And the fruits it produces. Good food and drink are our life. Because they bring people together. They forge friendships. They strengthen family ties. That's exactly why we are building our dream: our own range of top-quality Belgian wines.

As a child, I often sat on my grandfather's lap. Then I was allowed to dip my piece of bread into his wine glass.’
Fabio Celli

A love of wine runs like a thread through Fabio's life. He grew up in a family of wine lovers. A warm home where conviviality and good food went hand in hand. After completing his studies, he quickly reconnected with this wine tradition. Through his many years of working in the wine trade, Fabio developed an ever-growing passion for the production process.
In 2017, he began his training as a professional winemaker, which he successfully completed in 2019.

The terroir and the grapes

Now nothing stood in the way of our dream. The search for the right plot of land could begin. All the pieces of the puzzle had to fit: orientation, location and soil conditions. Fortunately, we found it. The one perfect location. The vines enjoy the light there all day long. From sunrise to sunset. The edge of a forest protects them from the cold north wind. Soil analysis confirmed that the combination of gravel and marl makes this terroir unique. Not to mention the impressive view...

In spring 2018, we chose four grape varieties that are perfectly suited to the terroir and the Belgian climate: Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Auxerois.

The vineyard

But before we could start planting, there was a lot of work to be done on the site. In the spring of 2019, the soil was prepared and the entire vineyard was fenced off to protect it from wild boars. At the beginning of May, the time had finally come. The vines were planted in the ground, neatly arranged in rows running north to south. The Montepertini wine estate was born.

Vineyard size: 1.25 hectares
Location: Koestraat, Eigenbilzen
Number of vines: 4,200

The philosophy

The goal of the Montepertini vineyard is clear: to produce perfectly healthy grapes. This requires passion and dedication. But also respect for nature and constant care for the soil and the vines. We do this as greenly as possible. With a minimum of pesticides. It's a search for balance. Every day anew. But for us, it's the only right way to achieve a high-quality product.

Alden Biesen Wine Estate

In May 2021, the town of Bilzen began searching for an experienced winegrower for a 4-hectare plot of land near Alden Biesen.
The ambition? A high-quality wine estate in a prime location as an additional tourist attraction in Bilzen and Limburg. After an open procedure, the choice fell on Montepertini Wine Estate owned by Fabio Celli and his wife Laura.
Montepertini will therefore have a second wine estate! The first bottles of wine will be available for sale from 2026.
